What is Path 11 on the Tree of Life? · Aleph and The Fool

From the course Living the Tree of Life · Part 2: The Paths with Evelynne Joffe

About this video

In this clip from Class 19 of Living the Tree of Life · Part 2: The Paths at Global Spiritual Studies, Evelynne Joffe, Director of the Institute of Esoteric Studies in Melbourne, teaches Path 11, from Chokmah to Kether, the last of the twenty-two Paths. This path, she says, is the union between us and God, leading to dissolution.

Evelynne names the Path's Hebrew letter, Aleph, which means ox, its spiritual significance, Air, and its Tarot card, The Fool. Because the power in Chokmah is so big, we look at the energy of Kether and become dissolved: we will cease to be, for, as Kabbalah and the Bible teach, those who walk with God are not. The experience of Kether is total annihilation of self as we know it, and she quotes Dion Fortune: in trying to understand these paths, we are like little children trying to spell God. The air of this path is the life breath, an emptiness waiting to be filled. By the time we reach the top of the Tree, she teaches, we have shed all our baggage and disassociated from ego, and all we want to do now is go home.

The full course climbs all twenty-two Paths across twenty recorded classes, from Path 32 to Path 11, with each Path's Hebrew letter, its text from the Sefer Yetzirah, its Tarot card and its myths, and two live Q&As with Evelynne for the 2026 Cohort. Class 19 also teaches Path 12, Bet and The Magician; the series began with Path 32, Tav and The World.

This path is the union between us and God, leading to dissolution.

So Path number 11, the key is the letter Aleph, which means ox. The spiritual significance is Air. The Tarot card is the Fool.

So this path is, because the power in Chokmah is so big, there’s that sense that we look at the energy of Kether and we become dissolved. This union with God will lead to dissolution. We will cease to be. We are taught in Kabbalah, and in fact we’re taught in the Bible, those who walk with God are not.

We know that the experience of Kether is total annihilation of self as we know it. So how on earth, or how in God’s name, can we really expect to understand these paths? And Dion Fortune, she says that in trying to understand these paths, we are like little children trying to spell God.

And that element of air that is associated with this path, it’s a sense of the life breath. It’s an emptiness waiting to be filled.

When we’re climbing the tree, when we’re getting to the top of our journey, by now we have shed all our baggage. We have disassociated from ego. All we want to do now is go home.
