About this video

In this clip from Class 4 of Living the Tree of Life · The Ten Sephirot at Global Spiritual Studies, Evelynne Joffe, Director of the Institute of Esoteric Studies in Melbourne, introduces Netzach, Victory: sphere number seven on the Tree of Life, the Sephirah of feeling, opposite Hod.

Evelynne teaches that if Hod is thoughts, Netzach is feelings. It means victory or eternity: the victory of creating something beautiful, because Netzach is associated with anything creative, and that beauty lasts forever. To someone who is too much in their head she would say go to the art gallery and simply look, without analysing; listen to music; paint, even finger paint. Netzach is messy, as emotions are messy, while Hod is clean, dry and sterile, and each of us has to find the balance between the two that is right for us.

The full course climbs the Tree Sephirah by Sephirah across eight recorded classes with two recorded Q&A sessions, study guides for every class, and a private course forum. Class 5 continues upward to Tiferet.

And Netzach is sphere number seven. It’s attributed to feelings. If Hod is thoughts, then Netzach is feelings. And it means victory or eternity. And the victory is the victory of actually creating something that is beautiful. Because this Sephirah is associated with anything creative. And eternity, that beauty, lasts forever.

So somebody came to me and said, look, I’m too much in my head. I have no idea of Netzach. It’s too unacknowledged in my psyche. What must I do? I would be saying to them, go to the art gallery. And don’t stand in front of the painting and analyse it and say, oh, that’s Picasso in his blue period. Just go and look at it. Or listen to music. Try and leave your head, the analytical part of your head, aside.

Or paint. I want them to do finger painting. I remember once saying to somebody, cover your body with paint and roll on a canvas. And they looked at me quite horrifically and said, no, I’m not going to do that. It’s too messy.

Well, Netzach is messy. Emotions are messy. And Hod is clean and dry and sterile. So we have, in us, we have to try and find the balance that is right for us between these two Sephirot.
