Throughout time holy books and wisdom teachings have looked at angelic beings, and their interaction with humans.  In this class, Cynthia Ray shines a light on messages Tarot cards have for us about angels. When we lay the cards out in a tableau with The Fool at the top, followed by three rows of seven cards, we see an angel present in every row, at every level of our development.  Rachel Pollack drew a parallel between this tableau and Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero’s Journey. The presence of an angel in every row indicates that divine assistance is present at every stage in our life journey.

We also look at deeper Kabbalistic and alchemical symbolism associated with angels. For example, the angel Raphael depicted in the Lovers card is associated with healing and love. Raphael helps us with one of the most important things we learn on our life’s journey – how to make choices that align with our higher self and purpose.  Michael, the angel shown in Temperance,  is the angel of the sun, associated with spiritual victory over darkness,  helping us to overcome our own inner dragons.  What do the cups he holds represent?  Why is one foot on land, and one on water?  What is the yellow triangle on his breast?  There are many nuanced, interesting and surprising things to be discovered as we explore angels in the Tarot.

The handouts for the class include meditations you can do to draw in the energy of one or more of the four angels. After recording of the live class concluded, Cynthia led the group through one of the meditations. Here’s what Patricia had to say about the experience…
